Program History & Accreditation
The PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at North – Robbinsdale Hospital originated in 2006 and is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). Our exceptional graduates practice across the U.S. as respected clinicians and clinical specialists. North Memorial Health added the PGY-2 in Critical Care in 2024 and it is in candidate status through ASHP awaiting accreditation.
Our residency program is continuously evaluated for improvement opportunities to guide our residents through a seamless transition into clinical practice. Up to three candidates each year are selected for our PGY-1 program and one candidate for our PGY-2 in Critical Care.

Pharmacy Services
North – Robbinsdale Hospital’s Department of Pharmacy Services utilizes a decentralized model to provide care in the inpatient setting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Tammy earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from South Dakota State University. She then completed a pharmacy practice residency with the Veterans Affairs Black Hills Healthcare System in Fort Meade, SD and PGY2 Pharmacotherapy residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Tammy worked at Mayo Clinic following her residency in Internal Medicine before coming to NMH in 2014. Tammy is board-certified in pharmacotherapy. Tammy has worked with numerous residents in her previous role as residency program coordinator and primary staffing preceptor for both PGY1 and PGY2 residents since coming to North Memorial Health over 10 years ago. Tammy became the North Memorial Health system ambulatory infusion manager in 2024 and has been the PGY-1 residency program director since 2024. Her primary practice interests are in Internal Medicine. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, thrifting, audiobooks, traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her family.

PGY1 and PGY2 Cardiology
Chad earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota and completed his Critical Care residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He worked at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan as a Cardiology Pharmacy Specialist for several
years before moving back to the Twin Cities. As the Cardiology Pharmacy Specialist at North Memorial Health, he rounds with the inpatient Cardiology service, provides support to the Heart and Vascular Care Clinics, and is a preceptor for pharmacy students as well as the PGY1 and PGY2 Cardiology rotations. Chad is also an active member of several hospital committees including the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) committee, Stroke Steering, and the Heart Failure and Atrial Fibrillation Council. Chad’s areas of interest include Heart Failure and Anticoagulation. In his free time he enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with family.

Jonathan (Jonny) earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota before completing his pharmacy practice (PGY1) residency at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center in Florida. Jonathan is board-certified in pharmacotherapy (BCPS). Since completion of residency, he has worked at North Memorial Health – Robbinsdale Hospital as a staff pharmacist with professional interests in cardiology, diabetes mellitus, and inter-professional teamwork. He previously served as a preceptor for North Memorial Health Residency’s PGY1 Internal Medicine rotation and Transitions of Care rotations before becoming the clinical manager. Jonny also was the APPE student Transitions of Care rotation primary preceptor, helped to implement a glucose management service for open heart surgery patients, and is helping lead a discharge transitions of care model for the pharmacy. Outside of North Memorial Health, Jonathan is a past president of the Minnesota College of Clinical Pharmacy (MCCP), previously served on the board of directors for the Minnesota Cardiology Pharmacy Alliance, and is an active member in many professional organizations. When not reading journal club articles or solving drug-therapy problems, Jonathan enjoys spending time with family, biking, remodeling houses, and anything baseball related.

Natalie earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota in 2003 and completed a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency at North Memorial Health in 2016. She became board-certified in pharmacotherapy in 2007 and in critical care in 2022. Since graduating in 2003, Natalie has been a staff pharmacist at North Memorial Health, where she has gained extensive experience in oncology, critical care, and emergency medicine. She previously served as a preceptor for the PGY1 internal medicine rotation and is currently the primary preceptor for PGY1, PGY2, and APPE emergency medicine rotations. Additionally, Natalie is a member of the NMH stroke steering committee. Her interests encompass teaching pharmacy students and residents, stroke management, trauma, toxicology, shock syndromes, infectious diseases, and more. An active member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), and Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), she volunteers as a poster mentor and on the critical care standard-setting panel for Board Certified Critical Care Pharmacist (BCCCP) recertification with ACCP. In her free time, Natalie enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her daughters and husband.

James earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota and completed his pharmacy practice residency at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI. At North Memorial Health (NMH) he splits his time between the trauma/neurological intensive care unit (TNICU) and medical intensive care units (MICU). James is a coordinator and primary preceptor for the University of Minnesota IPPE experience at NMH, preceptor for the PGY-1 TNICU rotation, PGY1 Critical Care II rotation, PGY2 TNICU rotation and adjunct preceptor for the University of Minnesota APPE TNICU and MICU rotations. James’ areas of interest are all critical care but especially trauma and neurological. In his free time James likes to enjoy all four of MN seasons outdoors running, biking, playing softball and cross country skiing. He also enjoys the MN Twins, MN United, MPLS City SC, craft beer (responsibly!), and traveling. Prior to having his first child, James visited Mt Everest base camp in Nepal, Machu Picchu in Peru, France and Iceland and he is looking forward to introducing his daughter to the wider world!

PGY1 Hematology-Oncology
Sarah is a Board-Certified Oncology Pharmacist serving as the Inpatient Hematology/Oncology preceptor at North Memorial Health. She completed her PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at North Memorial Health and her PGY-2 Hematology/Oncology Residency at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. She serves as a lecturer at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy. Sarah is an active member of HOPA (Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association) and ACCP (American College of Clinical Pharmacy) contributing to publications, new drug updates, BCOP recertification courses, and national committees; she was named as the 2023 Emerging Hematology/Oncology Pharmacist by ACCP. In her free-time, Sarah loves to needlepoint, practice ballet and figure skating, garden, and attend concerts, Twins games, and Vikings games.

Elizabeth is a 2017 graduate of Marshall University School of Pharmacy in Huntington, WV. She completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV and a PGY2 in Emergency Medicine at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, IL. She practiced in the Emergency Department at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN prior to pursuing a PGY2 in Pharmacy Informatics at Hospital Sisters Health System in O’Fallon, IL. Elizabeth is Board Certified in Critical Care, and her primary practice interests include data analytics, clinical decision support, and emergency medicine/critical care. As the Pharmacy Informatics Specialist at North, she coordinates departmental data and technology needs. She is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Informatics Section. Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys staying active, playing video and board games, and spending time with her husband and their two cats.

PGY1 Medical-Surgical
Andrea earned her Pharm D from the University of Minnesota, College of Pharmacy in 2007. As the Clinical Pharmacy Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Specialist she established pharmacy representation rounding with the medical team in the NICU at North Memorial Health – Robbinsdale Hospital. Over the years she has updated, developed and implemented many protocols specific to the NICU within the system. In 2023 she helped create a new Med/Surg Rotation and is the primary preceptor. As the NICU rotations will be transitioned to North Memorial Health – Maple Grove Hospital, Andrea will continue to be primary preceptor on the Med/Surg rotation. A favorite aspect of the pharmacy profession is the ability to continue to learn new things each day and be able to apply them to practice. In her free time, she looks forward to spending time with family, including husband and four children, friends and traveling.

Becky earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Roseman University of Health Sciences (formerly University of Southern Nevada). She completed her PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency at North Memorial Health – Robbinsdale Hospital and went on to complete her board-certification in Pharmacotherapy. After completing her residency, she continued her career at North Memorial Health as a staff pharmacist in the ICU. Becky is the primary preceptor for the PGY1 and PGY2 Precepting rotation, PGY1 and PGY2 CVICU rotation, PGY1 weekend staffing, PGY2 Medical ICU rotation and secondary preceptor for PGY1 critical care II rotation. She is also the primary preceptor for APPE students. Her professional interests are in critical care. In her free time, she likes to bike, go to Twins games, and spend time with her husband and 2 children.

Christina earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2013. She then completed her PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency at North Memorial Health. Since completing her residency Christina has worked as an Emergency Medicine pharmacist for the past 10 years at NMH. She is board certified in Critical Care and serves as the program coordinator for the pharmacy intern program at NMH. Her areas of clinical interest include medication use in trauma, toxicology, and nurse education. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and son, traveling, baking, watching sports and is an avid Men’s Gopher Hockey fan.

PGY1 Psychiatry
Lesia earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy with an emphasis in leadership. She completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency in Behavioral Health Services at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview. Prior to coming to North Memorial Health, she worked as a clinical pharmacist at the Neurodiagnostic Institute in Indianapolis. She is serving as the primary behavioral health expert at North Memorial Health. She is a preceptor for pharmacy students as well as the PGY1 psychiatry rotation. Her professional interests include first episode schizophrenia, mood disorders, addiction medicine, and the treatment of acute agitation in a hospital wide setting. In her free time, she enjoys reading, videogames, and spending time with her family and friends.

Hailey earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Creighton University in 2017 and completed her pharmacy practice (PGY1) and infectious diseases (PGY2) residencies at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. Upon completion of her residencies, Hailey began working as a clinical staff pharmacist at Abbott Northwestern, primarily in the emergency department. She eventually transitioned into the lead surgery pharmacist role at Abbott Northwestern, overseeing operations and pharmacy practice in surgical services before joining the team at North Memorial Health. As a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at North Memorial Health, Hailey oversees the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, as well as precepts the PGY1 Infectious Diseases I & II rotations. Hailey is actively involved in several multidisciplinary committees, including Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Infection Prevention and Control and co-chairs the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program Committee. Hailey’s areas of interest include antimicrobial stewardship, antimicrobial resistance and infection prevention. Outside of work, Hailey enjoys travelling, staying active, spending time with friends and family and cheering on Minnesota sports teams (even though this has only earned her a broken heart).

Margaux earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 2018 and completed her PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at North Memorial Health – Robbinsdale Hospital. Margaux is board certified in pharmacotherapy. Since completing residency, she has worked at North – Robbinsdale Hospital as a staff pharmacist with clinical interests in emergency medicine and critical care. She has served as the primary preceptor for the PGY1 internal medicine rotation prior to taking on the role of Residency Program Coordinator and is the primary preceptor for the PGY1 staffing rotation. In her free time, Margaux enjoys running, going to restaurants with patios, and spending time with her husband, son, dog, and cats.

Carly earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota. She then completed a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital and a PGY-2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency at M Health Fairview Southdale and Ridges Hospital. She started practicing as a clinical pharmacist at M Health Fairview Southdale for nearly a year. In May of 2023, Carly joined North Memorial Health – Robbinsdale Hospital as the Pharmacy Operations Manager. In this role she oversees operations, technicians, sterile and non-sterile compounding, medication safety, drug shortages, medication inventory, and the pharmacy intern program. Carly is an active member in MSHP (Minnesota Society of Health System Pharmacists) and serves as an officer on the MSHP- Central Affiliate Regional Society. Areas of interest include professional development, interprofessional collaboration, process improvement, precepting, and medication safety. Outside of work, Carly enjoys playing competitive volleyball (sand and indoor), biking, hiking, traveling, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with her husband and dog Willow.

PGY2 Nutrition
Lauren earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She completed her PGY-1 residency at North Memorial Health and is board certified in critical care (BCCCP). Since completion of residency in 2018, she has worked at North Memorial Health with clinical interests in the ICU and ED. Lauren works closely with residents and APPE/IPPE students. She enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, watching hockey (Blackhawks fan at heart but learning to love the Wild), and spending time with her husband and two kitties.

PGY2 Emergency Medicine Evening
Kari Ann earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota in 2010, completed a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in 2011, and became board-certified in pharmacotherapy in 2011. Kari Ann has worked as an emergency department pharmacist in Maplewood, MN, Seattle, WA, and Granger, IN. She started at North Memorial Health as a clinical pharmacist in 2019. Kari Ann also enjoyed teaching pharmacotherapy for the Valparaiso University Physician Assistant Program from 2018 -2022. Her areas of interest include Emergency medicine and precepting. Outside of work, Kari Ann enjoys metalsmithing, traveling, hiking, and reading.

Carolyn earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy in 2017. She originally joined the North Memorial Health team in 2014 as a pharmacy intern. Carolyn then completed a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital before returning to North in 2018 as a clinical pharmacist. She is board certified in pharmacotherapy. Carolyn serves as a secondary preceptor for the PGY-1, PGY-2, and APPE emergency medicine rotations and is also a primary preceptor for the North Memorial Health institutional IPPE rotation. Her clinical interests include emergency medicine, critical care, and neonatology. Outside of work, Carolyn enjoys cooking, reading, and practicing yoga and Pilates.

PGY2 Surgical Services
Haley earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2021. She then completed a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency at North Memorial Health. She holds a lead role in the surgical area and enjoys finding new ways to optimize pharmacists’ impact in the OR. She also works on medical/surgical and step-down floors. In her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants, cooking (including a new sourdough journey), traveling, reading, and spending time with her husband and dog Frankie.

PGY1 Internal Medicine
Jake earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and completed his PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at M Health Fairview Southdale in Edina, Minnesota. He currently works as a staff pharmacist at North Memorial Health – Robbinsdale Hospital, where he primarily covers the internal medicine units, step-down cardiology, and also serves as an ICU backup pharmacist. Jake’s professional interests include antibiotic stewardship and optimizing transitions of care to enhance patient outcomes. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his two dogs, Thor and Loki, traveling, exploring new restaurants, and holding out hope for a long-awaited Vikings Super Bowl victory.

Amy earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from South Dakota State University in 2004 and began her pharmacy career as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy stationed at Naval Health Clinic Charleston SC, Naval Hospital Sigonella Italy and Naval Medical Center San Diego, CA. In 2011 she joined North Memorial Health as a staff pharmacist working 7/70 evenings primarily covering critical care. Amy serves as a primary preceptor for PGY1 and PGY2 staffing rotations and finds the most rewarding aspect of pharmacy practice to be working directly with other healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy and directly improve patient outcomes. Outside of work, Amy enjoys staying active, enjoying time with her husband and two children, and traveling.

PGY1 and PGY2 Neonatal ICU
Letty earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota in 2003, completed a PGY1 residency at Mercy/Unity Hospitals, and became board-certified in pharmacotherapy in 2010. After completing her residency, she continued working at Mercy Hospital covering all clinical areas before joining Maple Grove Hospital in 2009. Letty is currently the Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator at Maple Grove Hospital and serves as the primary preceptor for the PGY1 and PGY2 Neonatal Intensive Care rotation. In her free time, Letty enjoys spending time with her family and practicing Tai Chi and meditation.

ASHP Accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency

Kara grew up in Lakeville, Minnesota. She attended University of Minnesota-Duluth for undergrad with a major in biochemistry and a minor in biology. She then continued at the University of Minnesota-Duluth to complete her Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Kara’s clinical areas of interest include hematology/oncology, pediatrics, neurology, infectious diseases and cardiology. In her free time, Kara enjoys being outside with her dog Millie, baking and watching IndyCar and Formula 1.

Jeenue grew up in Plymouth, MN. He began his undergraduate studies at Concordia University – St. Paul where he majored in biology with a minor in chemistry. He continued his journey and completed his Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota – Duluth. Jeenue’s clinical areas of interest are cardiology, critical care, and endocrinology. In his free time, he likes to spend time outdoors with friends and family, whether it is a hike in the woods or a walk by the lake, as long as he is out and about enjoying the fresh air. He also enjoys reading, drawing, listening to music, and playing his saxophone.

Kayla grew up in Minneapolis, MN. She attended Drake University for both her undergraduate studies and pharmacy school. Her clinical areas of interest include infectious diseases, critical care, and precepting. As she progresses through her PGY1, she hopes to determine whether she would like to pursue a PGY2 in any of these areas. ASHP Candidate Status PGY2 Critical Care Residency

Preston grew up in Sartell, Minnesota. He attended The University of Minnesota- Twin Cities where he obtained both a Bachelor of Science in Biology and his Doctorate of Pharmacy. Preston completed his PGY1 pharmacy practice residency with Allina Health – Mercy Hospital in June of 2025. His professional interests are in emergency medicine, critical care, and precepting. After residency he hopes to pursue a critical care specialist position and become more involved with the residency program at his practice site. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, exercising, board games, and spending quality time with his cats and significant other at home.
