Summer Student Nurse Internship
North Memorial's Summer Student Nurse Internship program is aimed at nursing students who will be entering their final year of nursing school in the academic year preceding the internship. The paid internship lasts from the first Monday in June through the second Friday in August. Application deadline is mid December, interviews are conducted in January and offers are extended mid-February.
The Nursing Student Intern at North Memorial will work under the direct supervision of a North Memorial RN functioning as a Nursing Student Intern Mentor. Participating Nursing Student Interns are hired by the hospital and are expected to follow the schedule of the primary North Memorial nurse that will be mentoring them, usually 64-80 hours per 2 weeks. Shift assignments are typically day/night, day/evening or evening.
This opportunity to shadow and work along side of a staff RN has proven invaluable to our past participants. Many report a huge boost in confidence in their capabilities as well as reinforcement of their choice in pursuing a nursing career.
