Stroke Support Services

At North Memorial, we know it is important for you and those close to you to receive support after having experienced a stroke. There is no way to eliminate all the emotions and uncertainties. But when you make educated decisions or speak with others who share similar feelings, you may gain strength often needed during this unexpected time in your life. We offer many opportunities for education and support including personal time with staff, numerous support groups, various classes, printed materials, videos and the Internet.

Discovery Circle I: This group is geared toward stroke survivors generally over 55, focusing on topics for retirees and general stroke support.

Discovery Circle II: This group is geared toward stroke survivors generally under 55, focusing on topics of parenting, career and general stroke support.

Coffee and Conversation: This casual weekly group of stroke survivors provides a comfortable setting to practice communication techniques and improve skills for stroke survivors with aphasia or other communication difficulties. Come enjoy a cup of coffee and casually discuss the daily newspaper, a funny advertisement, or even your favorite comic strip.

Stroke Mentor Program: Mentorship provides the opportunity to meet with other stroke survivors for a single visit or ongoing get-togethers. Gain new insights, share experiences and learn from someone who's already experienced what's going on with you.
