Heart Care support classes and resources

Heart Education

North Memorial's Heart and Stroke Center offers a number of classes and support groups for patients, their loved ones and the community. Registration is required for many of our programs.

Heart Club
The purpose of the Heart Club is to provide informative talks for its members. These talks focus on heart health and disease and other related health topics. Informal social activities following the program, provide the opportunity to share concerns and talk with others who are working to live a heart-healthy life. Membership is open to anyone in the community, whether they are currently living with heart disease or are focusing on prevention.

Some of the topics include information about:

  • New treatments in cardiovascular disease
  • Medications
  • CPR training
  • Cooking suggestions
  • Stress management
  • Smoking cessation
  • Exercise programs

Fitness Plus is a physical fitness program designed to determine physical fitness status and cardiovascular disease risk, and provide guidelines to improve fitness and reduce cardiovascular disease.

Our staff includes exercise physiologists, registered nurses, laboratory technicians and physicians. The program is designed as a flexible component system. Clients may choose the evaluations that best meet their needs. Our staff is available to assist in this decision. Testing may be done at North Memorial's Heart Center or the employer's worksite.

The three main components of the program are the Cardiovascular Fitness Evaluation, the Lifestyle Assessment Profile and the Blood Profile Risk Analysis. For information call us at 763-520-5092.
