We are full-time ALS service that serves parts of southern Hubbard, eastern Becker, and northern Wadena Counties. Park Rapids is a rural community that hosts many outdoor activities and some light industry.
North Memorial Ambulance Walker was contracted with the City of Walker in June of 2008. Walker provides full-time response while holding a part-time ALS license. We serve a large portion of Cass County along with the eastern portion of Hubbard County. Walker is located on the southwest shores of Leech Lake, one of the largest lakes in MN. It is a resort community and hosts many events throughout the year including the famous “Eelpout Contest” and “Moondance” events.
While each community has their distinct differences, North Memorial has worked to regionalize emergency medical response and the two services now work as one in response to requests for care within the region.
We're affiliated with and receive medical direction from North Memorial Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center in Minneapolis.
In addition to emergency medical care, we provide employment for local residents and support for area businesses. We recognize the importance of educating citizens about our services through outreach presentations and station tours for schools and the general public. We're proud of the strong working relationships we've developed with area public safety and first responder agencies and are proud to have provided many of them with EMS training and equipment donations.
North Memorial EMS Education offers one of the most expansive, successful training programs of its kind.
Each year our office hosts an EMS refresher conference in Park Rapids to provide needed education to our local Emergency Medical Responders, EMT’s, and Paramedics. This is done in an integrated style so that all responders train together and develop an understanding of each of their skills levels.
- First Responder (Initial and Refresher)
- EMT-Basic (Initial and Refresher)
- CPR and AED Training (Initial, Instructor and Refresher)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS - Initial and Refresher)
We desire EMS professionals who embrace North Memorial's vision: “To give our patients and their families compassionate, remarkable care”.
A career with North Memorial Ambulance is rewarding. We are proud of the outstanding working relationships we've developed with the local first responder and law enforcement agencies within our service area.
