He is also board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedics and Primary Podiatric Medicine for non-surgical management. He specializes in diseases and disorders of the foot and ankle. Dr. Zelent completed his education at the University of Illinois. He completed an internship at the Veteran's Medical Center in Minneapolis and his residency in foot and ankle surgery at Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids, where he served as chief resident. He also had the opportunity to complete orthopedic reconstructive surgery fellowship experiences at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington and at the Russian Ilizarov Scientific Center for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopedics. Dr. Zelent has been an author of numerous publications and currently serves as a manuscript reviewer for several medical journals. He participates as a recipe reviewer for a prominent culinary publication, enjoys spending time with family, cooking and baking.
