Is the clinic for women only?

The clinic is designed specifically for women catering to their needs. Men who are interested in scheduling an appointment with one of the clinic’s female cardiologists, or any of our cardiologists, can schedule appointments at North Memorial Heart & Vascular Clinic, located at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

Is the clinic staffed by women?

The North Memorial Women's Heart Clinic is led by female cardiologists Pam Paulsen, MD, and Mary McLaurin, MD. However, what makes it truly unique is the way the care is provided. With input from our patients, we are able to give attention to details specific to female patients.

Will my insurance cover my costs?

The MyHeart Book heart-screening package for women is an out-of-pocket expense. Any diagnostic tests ordered by a physician will be covered by an individual’s insurance plan within plan specifications. Consultation with one of our female cardiologists can be arranged through a referral from your doctor, or you can self-refer if your health insurance plan allows. Women who are referred by their doctor for screening to evaluate specific symptoms or problems are covered within plan specifications. Check with your medical insurance plan to determine insurance coverage.

North Memorial Women’s Heart & Vasular Clinic is the first stand-alone clinic designed specifically for women. While there may be programs that offer women educational resources, screenings and assessments, the North Memorial Women’s Heart & vascular Clinic offers all of those things, as well as on-site services like consultations, stress nuclear test, stress echocardiography, echocardiography and vascular screening studies. The clinic’s female leadership combined with its one-of-a-kind environment provides women with the privacy, comfort, education and expertise they need and expect.

What makes the Women's Heart & Vascular Clinic different from North Memorial Medical Center?

The Women’s Heart & vascular Clinic provides a unique environment designed specifically for women. Also, the location of the clinic provides convenience for women in the northwestern metro communities who are concerned about heart disease. Women's Heart & Vascular Clinic patients who need invasive procedures or surgery will be referred to North Memorial Medical Center.

The clinic is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

What services are offered?

The North Memorial Women’s Heart & Vascular Clinic offers comprehensive heart care services for women, ranging from clinical consultations to diagnostics. Specific services offered on site include consultation with one of our female cardiologists, stress nuclear test, stress echocardiography, echocardiography and vascular screening studies. These services are generally covered by insurance. Additionally, women can receive MyHeart Book personalized heart risk screening and assessment services for $125.

What is included in MyHeart Book?

The screening includes a one-hour comprehensive screening with a Women’s Heart & Vascular Clinic staff member. When finished, patients receive a personalized MyHeart Book, complete with a heart risk assessment, plan for improving your health, nutrition and exercise recommendations, pedometer walking program, educational resources and more.

How much does MyHeart Book cost?

MyHeart Book, a unique heart risk screening and assessment program exclusively for women, is available for $125.

Why is North Memorial exclusively targeting women?

One in two women will die from heart disease or stroke (National Institute of Health). North Memorial has expanded its cardiovascular services to educate and provide women with the care they need.

If I have a particular heart condition or heart disease risk factors such as family history, should I schedule an appointment at the Women's Heart Clinic?

Please consult with your primary care doctor to determine if a referral to the North Memorial Women's Heart & Vascular Clinic is appropriate for you. North Memorial can assist you in finding a primary care doctor if you do not already have one. Please check our online directory. If you have a medical emergency, call 911.
