Quality Indicators Released by Federal Government Include Emergency Department Wait Times
On the heels of new hospital quality indicators released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), two local media outlets recently reported on Emergency Department wait times -- one of several metrics that CMS publishes on Medicare's Hospital Compare website.

Which Nearby Hospital Has the Longest Emergency Department Wait?
At North Memorial, physicians, nurses and all healthcare professionals in the Emergency Department have made it a priority to ensure that every patient is seen, evaluated and treated in a timely manner according to the severity of their illness. When a patient comes to the Emergency Department, they are seen by a triage nurse and brought to a room as quickly as possible. We no longer register patients in the triage area, but instead have implemented bedside registration. That means a patient will often be seen by a nurse or physician before the registration process even takes place.
