North Memorial has serviced the communities in the northwest metro for more than 50 years and currently has more than 5,000 employees. Once known primarily as a Level I Trauma Center, today North Memorial is recognized for much more, including a full range of primary and specialty clinics, outpatient centers, medical transportation, and home and community outreach. North Memorial also partners with other Twin Cities healthcare leaders to bring care to the communities we serve.
Project for Pride in Living
North Memorial Health Care has partnered with PPL to provide their classroom participants with the opportunity to complete their "job shadowing" experience who have an interest in the field of healthcare. Individuals have "job shadowed" in roles such as clerical, dietary aide and nursing assistant positions. The goal behind this partnership is to create a pipeline to meet our staffing needs as well as to provide employment opportunities for those in the communities that we serve.
Once participants complete their training they work with a retention specialist for 12-18 months afterwards to not only position themselves in the workforce but to continue their career development.
Project for Pride in Living (PPL) is a non-profit organization that has been designed to empower individuals who are seeking to further their growth and development in areas of their career and education. This program utilizes a holistic approach to focus on the individual as a whole. They offer a variety of resources to meet the specific needs of an individual through employment and job readiness services. Participants prepare for long-term success by studying soft skills within the classroom setting and receiving on the job training through "job shadowing".
Roosevelt High School Health Careers Program
North Memorial partners with Roosevelt High School, post-secondary institutions, state health related offices, and a number of local healthcare organizations in this initiative.
This program prepares students with hands-on experience and practical knowledge to explore different career opportunities within the health industry. Since 1987, the program has assisted and supported Minneapolis students in successfully preparing for post-secondary study or entry-level positions in Healthcare, right after graduation.
Twin Cities RISE!
North Memorial participates in the Twin Cities RISE! Core Program, by providing input for program curriculum and placing participants into office support and operations positions.
Twin Cities RISE! (TCR!) is an innovative anti-poverty organization that offers a comprehensive work skills training program for low-income adults in the Twin Cities area. The combination of work skills classes, Personal Empowerment, one-on-one coaching, and internship opportunities result in placement in full time, living wage jobs.
