Cardiac Wellness and Prevention
Preventative care and treatment of ones' controllable cardiac risk factors (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes mellitus, tobacco use, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, high stress levels and excessive alcohol use) can help to lessen the risk of a heart attack and/or stroke. North Memorial Heart & Vascular Institute provides patients services and regular office visits to aid in the prevention of disease.
North Memorial Heart & Vascular Institute offers its patients a multitude of specialty services, for example: cardiac CT angiography, cardiac surgery, coronary intervention, echocardiogram, electrophysiology, laser vein treatments, stress testing, nuclear cardiology, vascular ultrasound/medicine/interventions, etc.
Congestive Heart Failure Treatment
Congestive heart failure results when the heart does not sufficiently provide the body with adequate blood/oxygen. At North Memorial Heart & Vascular Institute our providers will develop a personalized treatment plan following the completion of diagnostic testing, which may include one or more of the following: medication(s), diet, exercise and daily monitoring of ones' weight.
Coronary Artery Disease Management
Coronary artery disease is the result of build-up fat, cholesterol and other substances within the coronary arteries. The build-up reduces oxygen supply to the heart muscle. North Memorial Heart & Vascular Institute offers its patients ongoing management, support and treatment for ones' controllable coronary artery disease risk factors: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes mellitus, tobacco use, obesity and sedentary lifestyle.
Heart Rhythm Management
North Memorial Heart & Vascular Institute has multiple tools to assist in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of abnormal heart rhythms. Among these: electrocardiogram, holter monitoring, event and loop recording, electrophysiology studies, implantable pacemaker and/or defibrillator.
North Memorial Heart & Vascular Institute's cardiologists and advanced practice providers monitor and will develop a personalized treatment approach to managing our patients lipid panel to meet their cholesterol goals and personal needs.
Pacemaker and Defibrillator Device Management
North Memorial Heart & Vascular Institute offers care to those with implantable cardiac devices. Our device nurses are trained to interrogate, interpret and program a variety of manufactured devices.
Valvular Heart Disease Management
Valvular heart disease is the result of any one of the four heart valves not working as it should. North Memorial Heart & Vascular Institute offers management of valvular heart disease based upon the type and severity of disease. At present, no medications can cure valvular heart disease; however, medicines combined with lifestyle changes can successfully treat symptoms, protect heart valve(s) from further damage and delay the need for surgery for many years.
