Our Cardiology Clinic Services Include
Cardiac Wellness and Prevention
Preventive care and treatment of cardiac risk factors can help to lessen the risk of heart attack and/or stroke. North Memorial Heart & Vascular Institute provides patients services to aid in the prevention of disease through cholesterol and blood pressure management, and regular office visits to address risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, sedentary lifestyle, obesity, high stress levels and excessive alcohol use.
Cardiologist Consultations
North Memorial Heart & Vascular Institute offers its patients choices in providing outstanding, innovative heart and vascular care. Specialty services available to our patients include, but are not limited to: echocardiogram, stress testing, nuclear cardiology, cardiac CT angiography, vascular ultrasound/medicine/interventions, laser vein treatments, electrophysiology, intervention and cardiac surgery.
Pacemaker and Defibrillator Device Management
North Memorial Heart & Vascular Institute offers care for patients with implantable cardiac devices. Our device nurses are trained to interrogate, interpret, and program a variety of manufactured devices.
Anticoagulation Management
Our Anticoagulation Clinic offers its patients a consistent approach toward INR (International Normalized Ratio) management for those who have been prescribed Warfarin/Coumadin.
Congestive Heart Failure Treatment
Congestive heart failure results when the heart does not sufficiently provide the body with adequate blood/oxygen. At North Memorial Heart & Vascular Institute, our providers will develop a personalized treatment plan following the completion of diagnostic testing which may include one or more of the following: medication(s), diet, exercise, and daily monitoring of weight.
Heart Rhythm Management
North Memorial Heart & Vascular Institute has multiple tools to assist in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of abnormal heart rhythms. Among these: electrocardiogram, holter monitoring, event and loop recording, electrophysiology studies, implantable pacemaker and/or defibrillator.
Lipid Management
Our cardiologists and mid-level providers monitor patients' lipid panel and develop a personalized treatment plan to meet their cholesterol goals and personal needs.
Coronary Artery Disease Management
Coronary artery disease is the result of build-up of fat, cholesterol and other substances within the coronary arteries. The build-up reduces oxygen supply to the heart muscle. North Memorial Heart & Vascular Institute offers patients ongoing management and treatment of their controllable coronary artery disease risk factors: high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, tobacco use, obesity and sedentary lifestyle.
Valvular Heart Disease Management
Valvular heart disease is the result of any one of the heart valves not working as it should. North Memorial Heart & Vascular Institute offers management of valvular heart disease based upon the type and severity of disease. At present, no medications can cure valvular heart disease; however, medicines combined with lifestyle changes can successfully treat symptoms, protect heart valve(s) from further damage and delay the need for surgery for many years.
