North Memorial to Increase Hospital Visitor Restrictions to Protect Patients and Staff from Influenza

North Memorial has announced additional visitor restrictions that it will enforce to help protect patients and staff from influenza. The increased restrictions officially go into effect Nov. 2 and are as follows:

  • All visitors should use hand sanitizer or wash hands frequently.

  • Visitors, including siblings, may not visit if they have a fever, cough, sore throat or runny nose.

  • No person under the age of 16, who is not a patient’s immediate family member, may visit the hospital.

  • No children under the age of 5 may visit the hospital.

  • Visitors will be asked to leave the hospital if they do not follow these guidelines.

  • Visitors may be asked to wear a mask in the hospital.

OB/Pediatric Unit Restrictions:

  • NICU and Pediatrics limit visitation to age 16 and older.

  • Labor & Delivery and Obstetrics are allowing only healthy siblings of newborns to visit.

  • Family members should discuss special requests with their nurse or physician, who may consult with Infection Prevention.
