North Memorial Acquires Cardiovascular Consultants, Ltd.

(August 4, 2008 – Robbinsdale, MN) – North Memorial Health Care in announces that it has acquired Cardiovascular Consultants, Ltd. (CVC), an independent cardiology practice that includes 14 cardiologists. CVC physicians and staff have provided cardiovascular services at North Memorial for 34 years and officially became North Memorial employees on August 1, 2008.

"This acquisition strengthens North Memorial’s ability to provide exceptional cardiology services to people in the northwest metro," explains Jim Garvey, vice president of specialty care services at North Memorial. "This new relationship will allow North Memorial and CVC to integrate operations and provide services that are in the best interest of our patients."

Over the years, North Memorial and CVC have taken steps to provide patients remarkable heart care. In 2004, the North Memorial Women’s Heart Clinic, which features an all-female staff, opened as the first clinic in the Twin Cities focused exclusively on women’s heart care. In 2005, North Memorial opened an 80-bed Heart and Stroke Center featuring all private rooms. And today North Memorial is looking to build upon its commitment to patients by enhancing the services provided to referring clinics.

"We are proud of the care we provide our patients and are excited about the opportunities moving forward as part of North Memorial," says Pamela Paulsen, MD, cardiologist. "As we serve the growing northwest metro, we will be looking at opportunities to expand upon existing offerings and introduce new services to our patients."
