On Friday, March 11, 2005, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) announced the findings of its Maple Grove Hospital Public Interest Reviews. The review stated that it is in the public interest to build a hospital in Maple Grove.
"We are pleased and encouraged by the Minnesota Department of Health’s report stating there is a need for a hospital in Maple Grove," said Dave Cress, chief operating officer, North Memorial Health Care. "North Memorial has been the primary health care provider for Maple Grove residents for more than 50 years and we look forward to continuing our service to this community from a more convenient location in the near future. Given one-third of Maple Grove residents currently use North Memorial for their health care – far more than any other hospital – we’re confident that our proposal to shift 80 beds from our Robbinsdale campus to a Maple Grove campus is the best plan for Maple Grove and the surrounding communities. This strategy will provide the greatest continuity of care for residents.
The MDH reviewed each of the three proposals to build a hospital in Maple Grove separately and has issued a separate finding for each plan.
