Maple Grove City Council Endorses North Memorial/Fairview Hospital Proposal
At the January 17, 2006 Maple Grove City Council meeting, the mayor and council members took a leadership position regarding the Maple Grove hospital issue. They voted 5-0 to endorse the North Memorial/Fairview partnership and instructed the city administrator to have a formal resolution created that would be voted on at a later date. In their discussion, they recognized that both of the hospital proposals met the criteria that have been discussed this past year, but felt there were additional factors they needed to consider as a city council. Before each council member voted, they were asked to identify the key reasons for their support. The three main reasons cited were:
- North Memorial has strong, long-term relationships with the community
- The complementary nature of the North Memorial/Fairview partnership
- The North Memorial building site is the best location for a hospital
