North Memorial offers a comprehensive package of employee benefits. They are designed to give employees security, stability and peace of mind for themselves and their loved ones. If you become a North Memorial employee, be assured that you will have benefits competitive with any in the industry.
Health Plans
North Memorial offers three health plan options. A no deductible plan with Medica, a small deductible plan with PreferredOne and a high deductible plan. All three plans offer freedom of choice with no referrals needed. In addition, North offers an employee pharmacy where staff may have their prescriptions filled onsite at a reduced price.
Dental Plan
North Memorial's dental plan is provided by Delta Dental. Dental coverage, which includes preventive, diagnostic, and orthodontic benefits, is free to employees; however, there is a cost for family coverage. As with the health plan, same-sex domestic partners and their dependents may also be covered under North Memorial's dental plans, if eligible.
Life Insurance
North Memorial offers basic and optional life insurance. Basic employee life insurance is provided by North Memorial at no cost to our employees. Additional optional employee coverage, and coverage for spouses and children, are also available to certain employee groups at a reasonable cost.
Disability Insurance
All employees are offered disability insurance; however, coverage varies depending on whether the employee is in a union and the terms of that union's contract.
Paid Time Off/Medical Leave Bank
Non-contract employees are on the Paid Time Off (PTO) plan and receive at least 24 days of PTO time per year. Employees are eligible to start taking PTO immediately. In addition, they also have a Medical Leave Bank that accrues at the rate of seven days per year (pro-rated for part time staff) and an employer provided Short-Term Disability Plan.
Pension Plan
All benefit-eligible employees receive a fully employer-paid pension program. Full vesting is complete after five years of employment. Partial vesting before five years applies to some positions.
401(k)
All employees are eligible to enroll in a 401(k) program. A wide variety of mutual fund options are available for investments. Employees may contribute from 1% to 50 % of their pay into these programs, up to a maximum of $15,000 in a calendar year. Employees age 50 and older may contribute up to $20,000. Several employee groups also receive an employer match on their 401K contributions.
Flexible Spending Accounts
North Memorial employees may use pre-tax dollars to pay for expenses not covered by health plans, such as eyeglasses and prescription drug co-payments. Or employees may use pre-tax dollars to cover day care expenses. In both cases, these pre-tax dollars are conveniently deducted from the employee's paycheck.
On-site Fitness Centers
North Memorial promotes a healthy lifestyle by offering two on-site fitness centers for only $25 a month with no annual fee. The Employee Fitness Center is open for all employees. The Women's fitness Center is located on the lower level of Oakdale Medical Building and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Employee Assistance Program
North Memorial's Employee Assistance Program provides employees and their family members with confidential assessment, short-term counseling and referral services. Employees can access the Employee Assistance Program for help with a variety of issues, including family problems, mental health issues and financial matters. The Employee Assistance Program is coordinated by professional counselors with whom North Memorial has contracted. The program is available 24 hours a day and is completely confidential.
Education Reimbursement
North Memorial believes in developing the skills and knowledge of our employees. Therefore, we pay for certain job-related educational expenses.
Employee Resources Council
The Employee Resources Council's goal is to make North Memorial a better place to work by having employees help employees. With peer-elected members representing every area of the organization, the council offers social, recreational and entertainment activities, sponsors programs and events, and provides practical services and discounts. Many of these services and discounts are made possible through North Memorial's membership in the Minnesota Employee Recreation and Services Council.
Employee Recognition/Appreciation
At North Memorial, we continually strive for ways to show our employees how much we value their work. Therefore, we sponsor Employee Appreciation Days in the summer and winter and host a service award banquet honoring employees that have been with North Memorial for five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years. In addition, North Memorial annually awards our highest honor, the Harold Ecker Award, to those employees best exemplifying the quality of work and type of attitude we value.
Money Management Seminars
Because it's never too early or too late to plan for your retirement, North Memorial offers these popular and affordable seminars. They are held on site each year for employees and their guests. Sponsored by Employee Services, the programs are developed and facilitated by Successful Money Management Seminars, Inc.
North Memorial Retirees' Club
We value our employees through all phases of their career at North Memorial, including retirement. Our retiree club provides a link between work and retirement. The club meets monthly for educational programs, social outings and to offer volunteer opportunities.
North Memorial Employees Federal Credit Union
All North Memorial Employees are eligible to become part of the North Memorial Employees Federal Credit Union. This not for profit organization is located on the North Memorial Medical Center campus for the convenience of our employees.
