North Memorial's cardiology providers provide inpatient and outpatient consult for the diagnosis and treatment of heart problems. Appointments can be scheduled at (763) 520-2100.

 

Stefan De Boel, MD

Dr. De Boel is a graduate of the University of Brussels Medical School in Belgium. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Brussels and Hennepin County Medical Center as well as a cardiology fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Prior to joining North Memorial Heart & Vascular Institute, Dr. De Boel had practiced at MeritCare Health System in Fargo, ND since 1991. He is board certified in internal medicine and in cardiovascular diseases.
 

Gary D. Hanovich, MD

Dr. Hanovich earned his medical degree at Washington University in St. Louis and completed internship and residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He also completed a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at the University of Iowa. Dr. Hanovich has been with North Memorial’s cardiology group (formerly called CVC) since its inception in July 1976 and currently heads our Clinical Research Department. Additionally, Dr. Hanovich currently presides as the ACC Minnesota Governor.
 

Subash Harwalkar, MD

Dr. Harwalkar is a graduate of the Osmania Medical College in Pradesh, India. His residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in cardiology were completed at the University of Minnesota where he was also a clinical instructor in the Department of Cardiology. Dr. Harwalkar is board certified in internal medicine and board eligible in cardiovascular disease. His clinical interests include non-invasive imaging.
 

Douglas D. Hodgkin, MD, PhD

Dr. Hodgkin is a graduate of Loma Linda University Medical School. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Colorado, his cardiology fellowship at the University of Minnesota, and his cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at Bowman-Gray School of Medicine.
 

Bobbi L. Hoppe, MD

Dr. Hoppe is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Washington in Seattle, followed by a cardiology fellowship and a cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the University of California in San Diego.
 

Andrew L. McGinn, MD

Dr. McGinn earned his medical degree at St. Louis University and completed his internship and residency at the University of Minnesota Hospital. He completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology at the University of Minnesota and a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at the University of Minnesota and Minneapolis Veterans' Administration Hospitals. Dr. McGinn is board certified in cardiology.
 

Mary D. McLaurin, MD

Dr. McLaurin is a graduate of the University of North Dakota Medical School. She completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, where she was chief resident in internal medicine. Dr. McLaurin's cardiovascular training was completed at the University of Minnesota with a Nuclear Cardiology Certification. She completed a chief fellowship at the University of Minnesota.
 

Pamela R. Paulsen, MD

Dr. Paulsen is a graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She completed her post-doctoral training in Internal Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis and fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology at the University of Minnesota.
 

Steven S. Roh, MD

Dr. Roh is a graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Minnesota, his cardiology fellowship at Oregon Health Sciences University, and his interventional cardiology fellowship at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is board certified in Cardiology Diseases and Interventional Cardiology, and Nuclear Cardiology.
 

A. Jody Rowland, MD

Dr. Rowland graduated from Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago. She completed an internship, residency and fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics.
 

Retu Saxena, MD

At the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, Dr. Saxena directed the echocardiography lab and ran the women's heart program. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School. Her residency and fellowship were completed at Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland, where she also completed a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Saxena is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology.
 

Wendy S. Shear, MD

Dr. Shear is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School. She completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center. She completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Shear is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Minnesota. She is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.
 

George M. Tadros, MD

Dr. Tadros is a graduate of the Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt. He completed his residency at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA. His cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships were completed at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Tadros also earned a Masters of Science degree in Clinical Research from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. His clinical interests include coronary and peripheral intervention with emphasis on vascular medicine.
 

Richard D. Taylor, MD

Dr. Richard Taylor is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. He completed his internal medicine residency at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Los Angeles, CA. He also completed cardiology and electrophysiology fellowships at the Wadsworth Veterans Administration Hospital in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Taylor is board certified in cardiovascular disease and electrophysiology. Prior to joining Cardiovascular Services at North Memorial Dr. Taylor practiced in Duluth and Minneapolis.
 

Alok Maheshwari, MD

Dr. Maheshwari specializes in both coronary and peripheral interventions. He did his cardiology fellowship at Michigan State University and his interventional cardiology fellowship at the University of Vermont. He has been practicing in Saginaw, MI since 2005. In addition to interventional cardiology, Dr. Maheshwari is also interested in echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.
 

Paul Sander, MD

A graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, Dr. Sander ompleted his residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of Minnesota Hospital & Clinics. He is board certified in cardiology, cardiac CT, and nuclear cardiology, and his clinical practice areas also include echocardiography and diagnostic catheterization.
 

Rita M. Healy, BSN, RN, CNP

Rita is a graduate of South Dakota State University in Brookings, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She then attended the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, completing the Certificate Program as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. Rita currently serves on the North Memorial Heart Failure Committee.
 

Darcy H. Theisen, MSN, RN, CNP

Darcy is a graduate of Minot State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She then completed the UCLA/Harbor Nurse Practitioner Program in Women's Health Care and received her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Minnesota.
 

Tina Allenburg, CNP

Tina Allenburg is a graduate of the College of St. Catherine where she earned her Adult Nurse Practitioner/Master of Arts in Nursing degree. Her BA degrees in Nursing and Nutrition were earned at St. Olaf' College. She is certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner with the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
