Jonathan Gipson is Medical Director of Trauma Services at North Memorial. Dr. Gipson has a special interest in the surgical management of trauma and the care of patients requiring emergent and urgent general surgical procedures. His non-emergent clinical focus is on the surgical treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and bariatric surgical procedures, including laparoscopic gastric bypass and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.

Dr. Gipson has been on the trauma call panel at North Memorial since 2006. Previously he served as Medical Director of Trauma Services at Unity Hospital in Fridley Minnestota a Level III trauma center.

Dr. Gipson earned his B.A. degree from Carleton College in 1995 and earned his M.D. degree from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, Twin Cities, 2001. He completed his General Surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine in 2006. He is board certified in General Surgery
