Under the medical directorship of neurologist Irfan Altafullah MD, of Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology, North Memorial’s Stroke Center offers comprehensive medical care made possible by collaborative partnerships with Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology and Minneapolis Radiology Associates. Our nursing staff are trained in acute stroke care and certified in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stroke Scale.
Our broad network of stroke care specialists also includes ambulance, air care, emergency physicians and nursing specialists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, interventional radiologists, psychiatrists, dietitians, speech pathologists, physical and occupational therapists.
Dr. Altafullah is board-certified in adult neurology, clinical neurophysiology and vascular neurology. He is interested in all aspects of neurology, but particularly in the prevention and treatment of stroke. For the past decade, he has been the Director of the Stroke Center at North Memorial Medical Center.
Dr. Ivan Brodsky is board-certified in neurology and has a special interest in neurorehabilitation, spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury.
Dr. Cornelius serves as Medical Director of the Sleep Medicine program and Chief of Neurology for North Memorial Health Care. He is board-certified in both Neurology and Sleep Medicine. His Neurology residency and Sleep Medicine fellowship training were completed at the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN).
Dr. Xiaoming Dong is board-certified in neurology and fellowship trained in Electrophysiology and Neuromuscular Disease. She has a special interest in clinical neurophysiology, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular disorders and rehabilitation.
Dr. Charles Horowitz is board-certified in neurology and fellowship trained in EMG. He has a special interest in chronic neurologic diseases including multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, diseases of the spinal cord, stroke, neurologic consequences of trauma and motor problems of the nervous system, especially spasticity.
