Mark Ahrendt, MD, has served as a trauma surgeon at North Memorial since 1993. He has a clinical special interest in initial Emergency Department evaluation and continued hospital care of all types of traumatic injuries.
Alan Beal, MD, is a trama surgeon and Director of the Trauma/Neuro ICU at North Memorial, where he has served for 18 years. He is also the Surgical Education Director for surgical residents and medical students. Dr. Beal has a clinical special interest in trauma surgery, surgical critical care and acute care surgery, and evaluating and treating complex patients with injuries or surgical problems that also require care in the ICU.
Dr. Greg Bielman is a board-certified surgeon with a clinical special interest in ICU care, care of the critically injured patient and surgery therapy for chronic pancreatitis. He is also Chief of General Surgery and Division Head of Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery at the University of Minnesota and is active in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
Dr. Tracy Davido is a board-certified surgeon whose clinical special interests include trauma, acute care surgery, surgical critical care and infectious diseases of critically ill patients. Additional areas of interest include application of evidenced-based medicine protocols in the trauma bay, ICU and operating room, as well as efficiency improvement in operative management and applied algorithms designed towards decreasing surgical complications.
Dr. Joseph Farhat is a general surgeon whose clinical special interests include trauma surgery, acute care surgery, surgical critical care, abdominal wall reconstruction, enterocutaneous fistulae and incisional hernia.
Jonathan Gipson, MD, is the Medical Director of Trauma Services and the Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Program at North Memorial. Dr. Gipson has a special interest in the surgical management of trauma and the care of patients requiring emergent and urgent general surgical procedures. His non-emergent clinical focus is on the surgical treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and bariatric surgical procedures, including laparoscopic gastric bypass and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.
Dr. Michele Loor is a board-certified surgeon whose clinical special interests include trauma, surgical critical care, emergency general surgery, complex ventral hernias, abdominal wall reconstruction, wound healing, and soft tissue infections.
Jennifer Kling, FNP, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner whose clinical special interests include caring for patients in Trauma Services from admission to discharge, and in follow-up care.
Michaela McLain is a nurse practitioner whose clinical special interests include rehabilitation, trauma and urgent/emergent care. She enjoys caring for the patient as a whole and working with patient's families as well.
Patty Reicks, RN, is the pediatric trauma coordinator and research coordinator for North Memorial Trauma Services. She holds certifications in critical care and neuroscience.
Melanie Smalley is an orthopedics-certfied RN whose special interests include caring for orthopedic trauma patients and their families. from admission through discharge.
Lisa Sorenson, RN, is a certified plastic surgical nurse - the only one on staff at North Memorial. She has 17 years of orthopedic experience and 21 years of plastic surgery experience.
Melissa A.L. Thorson MS, RN, CCRN, CCNS is the trauma program manager for North Memorial Trauma Services. She is a clinical nurse specialist with special interests in trauma, acute care surgery and critical care.
