Diagnosis and Treatment options

Complementary Therapies

At Humphrey Cancer Center, we know that for cancer patients, little things can make a big difference. That's why, as part of our comprehensive services, we offer things like foot massages during chemotherapy, day-long wellness retreats, and endurance-building wilderness adventures.

A cancer diagnosis is frightening, and many patients fear conventional therapy almost as much as the disease itself. Some patients also find that a cancer diagnosis is a life-changing experience and begin to question many aspects of their lives.

Humphrey Cancer Center was the first oncology program in the metro area to integrate complementary therapies into the chemotherapy clinic setting. Now patients undergoing chemotherapy have the services of an onsite certified massage therapist. The Institute also offers day-long retreats in partnership with the Aveda Institute. The holistic retreats focus on how complementary therapies can help enhance one's quality of life and maintain a sense of well-being while going through cancer treatment.

Especially for women, the Center offers Women in Nature, an opportunity for women to share their experiences with other cancer survivors in a beautiful wilderness setting.
