Aides in the early detection of breast cancer

Breast Self Exam (BSE): (optional) perform on a monthly basis on the last day of your period. If you no longer have a period, do the self-exam on the same day each month.

Clinical Breast Exam (CBE): for women 20-40 years of age, performed by a health care provider every other year. For women over 40, performed yearly.

Mammogram: The age for a baseline mammogram should be determined by you and your health care provider, typically between the ages of 35-40. For women 40 and older, a mammogram should be performed every one to two years.

Breast Cancer Education and Support Groups

Attendees comment that over time, this group helps take the unexpected out of tomorrow, and calms fears with information, understanding and friendship. Guest speakers periodically attend to share the latest treatment options and community resources. Monthly discussion topics include managing fatigue and other treatment symptoms, integrative therapies, hormonal therapy and adjusting to changes in home and work life.

Meeting Time: 6-7 pm

Dates: First Tuesday of each month, except July.
